    Water treatment for agriculture

    The massive increase in the world’s population, along with the depletion of food sources in various regions of the world, have led to a significant increase in demand for food worldwide. Agriculture around the world needs to expand and change its face in order to supply the growing demand. This need creates complex professional challenges and requires the integration of advanced growing and production methods using innovative technologies.
    Nanobubbles make it possible to improve processes in many applications in agriculture. The unique properties of nanobubbles, such as their tiny size, relatively large surface area, high disinfection capacity, and free radical formation, are fundamental and important reasons for their use in a variety of agricultural uses. We at Nano+ are engaged in assimilating nano-bubble technologies in a number of agricultural applications:

    Livestock Wastewater Pre-Treatment

    Our Nano-Ozone AOP technology provides chemical-free and highly effective wastewater pre-treatment for dairy and pig farm wastewater.

    Since livestock production wastewater has high biological and pathogen loads, before reusing it in irrigation, the wastewater must undergo pre-treatment to render it suitable for further processing at wastewater treatment plants.

    Our Nanobubble technology disinfects wastewater, eradicating pathogens and preventing the formation of biofilm. In addition, our wastewater treatment brings the water chemistry levels to regulatory standards by removing oil, COD, BOD, TSS, TOC, and improving Turbidity.

    Nano+ Nanobubble systems are simple to operate and require minimal maintenance making them practical and attractive solutions for our customers.

    Aquaculture Water Treatment

    Nanobubble technology in aquaculture water treatment is applicable for intensive oxidation of water entering the farming pool and water purification treatment for exiting pool water.

    Water entering a controlled farming pool requires oxygen enrichment to sustain the fish and seafood being cultivated. This is effectively done with intensive nanobubble oxidation.

    The unique characteristics of nanobubbles allow them to be ideal carriers of gases, in this case, oxygen. Highly energy-efficient to generate, oxygen-filled nanobubbles systems require little to no maintenance or CIP.

    At the exit point of circulating pool water, nanobubble technology is applied to purify the leaving water. Without the use of any chemicals, the nanobubble ozone system efficiently removes contamination, making the treated water safe to re-enter the natural sea or ocean, and thereby closing the water circulation loop.

    Intensive Agriculture

    Enriching water with air-filled Nanobubbles

    The primary success factors for productive cultivation are to provide the plants with adequate water, air, and nutrients.

    Nano+’s unique system can be easily integrated into many intensive production systems to saturate the water with air-filled Nanobubbles.

    The introduction of Nanobubbles in these applications increases dissolved oxygen (DO) levels by 10-15%.

    Research has shown plants grown with Filtofelx’s Nanobubble technology experience increased nutrient uptake and improved plant health, due to lower incidence of root diseases, which leads to bigger plants (increased yield) over a shorter time period.

    The negative charge of the Nanobubbles interacts with important cations (potassium, calcium, magnesium, and ammonium) required for plant growth. This interaction increases the cation exchange capacity of the water which leads to improved nutrient uptake by the plant.

    Due to the Brownian motion and high surface charge, Nanobubbles are evenly distributed in the water volume and extremely stable over time acting as a storage and delivery system of plant nutrients.

    The increased nutrient availability and DO levels of the water create optimal conditions for root growth.

     

    Post-Harvest Disinfection Treatment

    Food contamination with harmful bacteria, viruses, and fungi is a primary concern of all packaging houses, especially for fresh produce.

    The list of approved chemicals and pesticides that can be used in post-harvest treatment is highly regulated and constantly changing, presenting a serious challenge.

    Oxidation of pollutants and elimination of pathogens using ozone is a well-known method, requiring low concentrations and short contact time. However, current applications utilizing macro and micro bubbles face many challenges due to the instability of the bubbles.

    Nano+’s Nanobubble technology greatly improves the efficacy of ozone treatment by delivering stable, reactive ozone via water medium. In addition, the extremely small bubble size allows ozone to reach ‘’inside’’ tiny cuts and imperfections on the produce surface where many pathogens are harbored.
